Cold Outreach to Retail and Wholesale Buyers
Cold outreach is contacting a buyer who has never heard of you and has no reason to reply. In wholesale that usually means email, because buyers do not answer unknown numbers and the ones worth reaching read their inbox between store hours. One email is not outreach. A sequence is: a first message, three or four follow-ups spaced over a few weeks, a break-up note, and behind all of it a sending domain configured so the messages arrive at all.
Most first emails fail for the same reasons. They open with the brand's own story instead of the buyer's shelf. They ask for a call instead of a small, specific yes. They run four paragraphs when three sentences would do. Write to one store, name the category you would sit in, state the wholesale price and the case pack, and end with a question a busy person can answer in one line. Send from your real domain, signed with your real name.
Here is the trap: the follow-ups do most of the work, and they are the part everyone skips because sending them feels rude. It is not rude. A buyer who ignored you in March may be filling a gap in May, and the only reason they remember your name is that you wrote again. The other trap is volume. Sending more to compensate for a weak list burns the domain that every future campaign depends on, and a burned domain takes weeks to rehabilitate.
Twenty-one guides here. Start with the cold email templates for wholesale outreach and the five-email sequence framework, then read the deliverability piece on warming a domain before you send anything at volume. Subject lines, email length, send timing and reply templates for common objections fill in the rest.
